There is a general definition of education to the common people throughout the world. It is related to the conventional forms of education that is divided into the disciplines of arts, science, commerce and the higher studies. But this is in no way the end since with the passing of years more and more subjects are coming to the fore. If you render close attention will find that many of them even relate to the ancient periods. Take for example, the different alternative and complementary treatment streams and their educations that have been in existence for thousands of years in India. The most prominent of them are Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Siddha, followed by the disciplines of Unani, Naturopathy, Yoga. It should be remembered that before the arrival of the British rulers and the discipline of Allopathy in the Indian soil the Ayurveda and its applications were regarded as the most commendable ways of treating people. Nevertheless due to the sinister designs of imperialist henchmen the entire prospect of Ayurveda was reduced. But the revival of this discipline in the recent years has brought new opportunities and has led to the initiation of this alternative medicine education. The major reason behind this are the side effects originating from allopathic medicines and making people turn away. It has been found that the education of alternative medicine in India has already progressed much and students along with professors are exploiting new opportunities for further developments.
Besides the governments have also recognized an assortment of courses relevant for the different types of alternative medicines. Scores of Ayurveda medical colleges under the auspices of governments have been opened and are functioning as the main centers of Ayurveda education in India. Even the private sector witnessing its response in the western world is coming forward and sponsoring the educational scenario along with the research projects like never before. Besides the prospect of employment opportunity in this discipline of alternative medicine is getting brighter. The students after the successful completion of education can avail worldwide opportunities. They are getting good employments in treatment centers, resorts with Ayurvedic treatment facilities, hospitals and several other places.
